Søren Ulkrik Petersen (1961 - )
Søren Ulrik Petersen completed his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at Hos Wulff's Møbelsnedkeri, Hellerup in 1985. In 1990 he graduated from the Danish Design School - Skolen for Brugskunst, specialising in furniture. He opened his own design studio - SUP Design - in 1991 and went on to complete a 3 year working scholarship sponsored by The Danish Arts Foundation. His work is characterised by the confident hand of a craftsman with an eye for detail and thorough knowledge of furniture construction principles. It focusses on functionality and simplicity anchored in Danish design tradition, as revealed in the design of the 'Slow Chair' illustrated above.
